Furniture Care: Manchester Wood uses Goddard’s

During this cold winter season we find ourselves indoors mostly, if any maintenance inside the homestead needs doing, it’s the perfect time of year.

Manchester Wood’s solid wood furniture needs care as well from time to time, a polish or cleaner after continual use brings out the beauty and craftsmanship in the item. Our products are known to last for generations, so why not have a well-kept heirloom?

Goddard’s is an English cleaner and polish company that we endorse for use on our products. Metal care, stone and tile care, and wood care are their specialties, and there are three products of theirs we feel work great on our items.

For new Manchester Wood products we recommend Goddard’s “Furniture Polish Aerosol,” a spray that nurtures, protects, and brings out that rich luster in the finish. Most importantly, it protects wood from cracking and drying.

Goddard's Furniture Cleaner and Polish

Older products, items past 5 years, deserve a more thorough cleaning and polishing. Goddard’s “Furniture Cleaner and Polish” is oil formulated conditioning treatment that’s effective in bringing a deeper luster to wood and provides a stronger, long-lasting protection.

The final Goddard’s product we’ll showcase today is their “Antique Furniture Polish,” another oil formulated conditioning treatment that preserves our long-time customers with Manchester Wood furniture past 20 years. Back in August we wrote about our Storage Solution items (Where do you put your stuff?) and how we live in an era where our “stuff” can become overwhelming. From Media Stands, Cabinets, Shelving, Desks, and Accent Tables, we’ve made an effort in producing the most stylish and practical items for any household.

All pieces are available in our two traditional finish options, Chestnut or Golden Oak.

Goodbye to a special 2010; Welcome 2011!

Manchester Wood, along with countless businesses and working folks faced a challenging 2010. It’s been a year that saw our countries economic decline reach new levels with further lay-offs, cut work time, and Washington’s trying attempts to bridge the gaps.

Most of us could debate (or agree) on the current affairs and handlings of our economic system, but regardless, there is so much to be thankful for this year.

For us, our loyal employees, clients, and customers have made everything worthwhile as we fight through these times with locally grown quality and service.

Manchester Wood has now been in service for 34 years with over half our staff being here for 10 years, and almost 25% have been here 20 years or more.

Quite a statement we feel, an evident result when you look at the character and strength of our employees.

As some might know, we’re a solid wood furniture manufacturing plant with our handcrafted pieces reaching customers directly through our online store, as well as in wholesale, selling to some of the greatest mail-order businesses in the World.

Our client and customer loyalty and respect for our work while keeping thoughtful American craftsmanship in existence means a great deal.

With all that said. The year 2011 arrives this Saturday, and we all couldn’t be more excited for this New Year.

We’ve hit the planning board often towards the end of this year and it’s safe to say 2011 will be our biggest year yet for our online store with expanding and new lines of furniture being announced every month. We’ll be working on a new Home Office line, expansion of our Outdoor collections, Kids furniture, and countless more furnishings that we hope brings warmth in-and-around your home.

New Media with more exposure in Multimedia formats will also see more light this coming year with video being added to our growing and evolving social networking sites.  We hope it’ll bring a fresh and revealing look into our “mill” to see how we operate and produce our furniture.

Equinox Collection: A Holiday Spotlight

Mount Equinox in Southern Vermont overlooks Manchester and surrounding area towns with a captivating presence. It’s a perfect symbol of the New England outdoors — a “leaf-peepers” paradise with robust trees covered in bright colored leaves during the spring, summer and the always abundant, fall season. Even during these winter holidays, a beautiful stillness is found.

It should be no surprise that Manchester Wood has found great influence from this mountain and the other surrounding natural landmarks we exist with everyday.
