Abe Abbas on Furniture Made in the USA: “There are many trends driving a greater demand in American made furniture and home furnishings.”
Customization and environmental awareness Abbas says is driving consumer demand for furniture made in the USA. The About.com Furniture writer claims (to our delight) that “Consumers have begun paying more attention to American made furniture… Environmental awareness has led some consumers to ask for furniture that is locally made to reduce its carbon footprint.” Read about Manchester Wood’s environmental standards here to answer one of the many reasons we keep our furniture made in the USA. Abbas continued, “As demand drives manufacturing, some manufacturers have been paying attention to this demand. There is an increase in American made furniture and home furnishings as a result.” Take a moment and read about our attention to detail with generations of craftsmanship at Manchester Wood.
We used an ad yesterday “You Can’t Import History” as part of our President’s Day celebration. And the phrase means a lot to us on several levels. For one, you can’t replace the legacy of American made no matter how hard you try. Two, you can’t beat the styles Manchester Wood offers that hark back to days gone by, yet with a timeless appeal designed for the modern generation. And you can’t compare the quality furniture made in the USA we offer at a price within range to a cheaper “knock-off” built overseas with inhumane work ethics and codes to keep it cheaper. You can’t replace legacy and tradition, you can’t beat timeless styles with new offerings, and you can’t compare the quality of our furniture made in the USA proudly since 1976.
Manchester Wood designs and produces quality, affordable, eco-friendly solid wood furniture in the Green Mountains of Vermont and Adirondack foothills of New York.
“more than half of made in USA manufacturing executives at companies with sales more than $1 billion plan re-shore production to the U.S. from China or are actively considering it, according to a 2013 survey by The Boston Consulting Group.”*
In a recent Forbes article Why ‘Made In The USA’ Is Making A Comeback discusses the hopes of major corporations “re-shoring” production to re-strengthen a once boisterous made in USA manufacturing culture. The biggest competitive advantage of a domestic supply chain for consumers? Shipping time.
With a long supply chain K’NEX had to make bets on which property would be hot six months or more ahead of the holiday shopping season, says CEO Michael Areten…
“We got a call from a retailer a few weeks before Christmas that they had shelf space to fill, and I told them we’ll make the products this week and fill the shelves next week,” Araten says. “You can’t do that if you’re bringing it in from Asia.”
We’d have to agree with this assessment on a macro level for the made in USA manufacturing discussion. Aside from quality and customer care, which we so strongly believe in at Manchester Wood delivery is a key element to success. Most of our handcrafted solid wood furniture made in the USA is packed and shipped typically within 48 hours of the order taking place. With most customers receiving their furniture within a week. Free shipping too! It’s not a bad business model for a small family-run furniture manufacturer like us. Discover the benefits of made in USA manufacturing, whether through large retailers carrying American made products or through local and direct retail outlets.

Chrysler Super Bowl Ad with the one and only Bob Dylan
“Is there anything more American than America?” Well while this is true….the message does kind of fall flat with me even though we own a Chrysler— now that Fiat owns Chrysler we wonder how long this patriotic slant is going to last with consumers.
WeatherTech You can’t Do That Big Game Commercial
We love this CAN DO attitude of – YES- we can make it in America! WeatherTech builds American factories, uses American raw materials, and employs America Workers. We have always loved this company and use these mats in our American made JEEP.
Alex and Ani Super Bowl 2014 | Main Street America
Ok, so I have had a personal obsession with this jewelry for awhile now. The message is so awesome. ”It is time to turn the street lights back on and turn the Closed sign around” ”We are Made in America”. I get chills every time I watch this! You?
Budweiser Super Bowl Commercial 2014
So, here we go — how can you not love this Ad? Puppies and horses and a love story of sorts. #BestBuds But, as a daughter of St. Louis home to the King of Beers / Budweiser– it still saddens my heart this this great American brand was sold to InBev. That said, you can take the girl out of St. Louis but, not the St. Louis out of the girl.
