Rudie: Our Work Dog

Rudie: Manchester Wood's Work Dog

“Ru-dy! Ru-dy! Ru-dy!”

If anyone has seen the sports movie “Rudy,” you know that chant well. An early 90’s classic about Rudy Ruettiger who was always told he was too small to play college football. Regardless, Rudy was determined to overcome the odds and eventually fulfilled his childhood dream of playing for Notre Dame.

It’s a great story, not to mention, a true one.

Our Rudie is no aspiring football player, but a now 10-year-old, stubborn pug. She (not a he like her namesake) garnered the name from the movie because of her tiny size, but large personality to overcome the odds of her early “runt” beginnings.

A fitting and sometimes humorous addition to our offices here at Manchester Wood, Rudie greets all our visitors and workers in a mostly calm fashion these days. She knows no tricks, stubborn with being confidently herself prowling the office floors, watching, eating, sleeping, and barking when it’s time for the outdoors, or food.

I have to say, she adds an atmosphere here that’s humorously relaxed. She breaks the regular business strain with just one cock-eyed look as she examines everyone’s move, always shadowing close behind.

Rudie is a proud and confident symbol of our quest to a fulfilled company with a strong moral code, and of course, our personal journeys to rise above all odds. It’s a constant reminder to be your self!
