The idea behind a table is relatively simple: a nice elevated surface to keep whatever is on it off of the ground. The idea has been around so long that it seems hard to improve on, but we are constantly thinking about how to make tables that break the mold.

Springtime Means Outdoor Furniture

Believe it or not, the official start of spring is less than a month away. Soon, outdoor activities will shift from shoveling snow and bringing in wood to bonfires and lounging by the pool. As the hills around our upstate New York factory slowly come to life, we find ourselves casting our minds forward to long evenings and warm, starry nights.

We see solid wood outdoor furniture as an essential part of enjoying the warmer months. Our Outdoor Furniture Collection offers a great assortment of rockers, tables, footrests and Adirondack Chairs.

Adirondack Chairs have been produced by upstate New York wood furniture makers for over a hundred years. When we started our business three decades ago, they were one of our first offerings and they continue to be some of our best sellers. One feature that we are especially proud of is that all of our solid wood Adirondack Chairs can be folded for easy storage.

Long ago, we realized that many people would leave their outdoor furniture out all winter just because it was a pain in the neck to store. TV tray tables became popular in the 1950′s, as the price of televisions fell to the point that middle class American families were able to afford them. Television trays were originally marketed as a way of conveniently eating meals and watching TV simultaneously, but have come to serve a variety of different purposes as well.

These days, many people use their TV tray tables as a surface for their laptop or tablet so they can do things like check their email while watching the morning news or video chat with their friends while they watch the game.  Who would have imagined that television trays, originally associated with 1950′s America, would become strongly associated with digital technology?

However, soon the novelty of plastic began to wear off, and its drawbacks, like brittleness and aesthetic shortcomings, became apparent. End tables can be underrated pieces of furniture, perhaps due to their diminutive stature or peripheral nature. Whatever the case may be, we believe that a nice wooden end table can be an integral aspect of almost any room, offering extra surface space and storage as well as contributing aesthetically.

End tables are great places for small lamps, family pictures or just the book you are currently reading. They are usually placed beside sofas and armchairs and are often paired with a coffee table in the living room. Like most furniture, end tables are made using a wide variety of standards and materials. Cheaper options, like particle board or veneer pieces seldom last and can look a bit tacky, so the top end tables are made with solid wood. One risk of end tables is that they tend to accumulate clutter, and while they may be convenient places to put things, those things can distract from the beauty of a well made, solid wood end table.
